In 1862, in an effort to spur western migration, President Lincoln signed the Homestead Act, prompting a long stream of farming and ranching families to go west and stake their claim. And, having traversed the better part of the Country, many saw the promise of this land and chose to settle here.

Inspired by the discovery on-site of some original homestead property markers, distinctly formed rock piles known as cornerstones, we honor the homesteaders and pioneering families who were here before us. We do so by taking on the name of these historic markers, sharing their unmistakable feeling that this is home.
